How to make a covenant with God
Those who have a covenant with God has a different life from the normal. They are extremely blessed. They have their prayers heard. They receive revelations, God tells them secrets, including the hidden secrets of men.
Before you think about making a covenant with God you need to know Him.
Imagine you want to get married. Before being engaged you need to know this person right? With God is the same thing, no one will assume a commitment to Him without knowing Him first.
We start to get to know God by reading the Bible which is where He speaks to us and by going to an evangelical Church.
Actually, I started to know God before going to a Church. It was through the Bible, only between Him and me.
I also started to get to know Him when asking for signs. Signs that would confirm His will. I asked Him to use the animals. (Read more about this Here.)
To be evangelical means to have a relationship and a covenant with God.
No one becomes evangelical by going to a Church or following some rule, but by making the decision to give the control of their life to God. (read more on that Here.)
But let's suppose you don't want to be evangelical but want to meet God and be blessed by Him.
It's ok, but it's just that everyone who meets God is called evangelical sooner or later. It's just that is what defines the evangelical "religion". Because, actually, it is not a religion. It's only to follow and relate to the True God, the God Creator of all things.
No other "religion" follows the God Creator. Because the Bible says that there is only one way to God, and that way is Jesus. (Read more about that Here.)
To be evangelical is, actually, to be free from any religion. Because God is Alive and when starting to relate to Him no one needs any religion anymore.
There are two steps that someone who wants to make a covenant to God needs to take.
The first one is to accept Jesus in your life.
It's necessary to accept Him because He only comes in and transforms the life of a person with their permission.
Jesus is the Door which we enter to meet God. (Read more on that Here.)
I know you must be asking why there isn't an easier way to make a covenant with God. Why having to go to Church and read the Bible.
Actually, God doesn't want to force us to do anything. His Spirit is sweet, soft and pleasurable. He is pure love.
So only by you thinking of making a covenant with God, or by having the desire to meet Him, He already rejoices a lot and He's working to make things easy and pleasurable to you.
We, believers, believe and follow the Bible simply because it is awesome.
Simply because God speaks to us through it. He guides us, gives us advice, encourage us, comfort us, strength us...
But if you already talk to God and believe in Him, His own Spirit is already taking you to meet Him and that is why you are reading this message.
Once we know Him we fall in love with Him, because He is Wonderful. And that is why we read the Bible and go to Church. Because we want it. Not for following a protocol or rule.
Actually, God hates rules. One of the reasons which Jesus came and died was to free men from rules.
(See where in the Bible says about accepting Jesus clicking Here.)
The second step to make a covenant with God is to become available to do God's will.
To be able to do God's will, first, we need to be free from the hands of the devil and this who does is God when we accept Jesus in our lives.
After being free from the hands of satan, we need to make or not the decision of serving God.
To serve God is to be willing to do His will.
His will is good, perfect and pleasurable says the Bible, and doing it we only benefit ourselves. Because He sees everything from above and we don't. We see here below very limitedly. God sees all. He sees the hearts of men, He sees who we can trust and who we cannot, sees what will happen in the future if we follow a certain way, so He is our Guide and to do His will is to follow the steps to have an abundant, blessed life.
And in order to feel safe to do His will, we need to trust in Him the sufficient to follow Him.
And that is what God wants the most. (Read more about that Here.)
As we trust in God and God is trusting in us, a covenant relationship starts to take place.
So...
Right now, God wants you to stop being afraid.
Stop being scared or fearful in relation to evangelicals.
Because we are the people of God used by Him to help and to bless you.
None of us wanted to become evangelical before becoming one. It's just that this is such a silly thing because it is only a name.
We are equal to you and to anyone, the only difference is that we are intimate to God.
There is no reason to be afraid of God.
There are some who come to God by fear of hell.
But no matter what it is the reason, what prevails is the fact that all that will be behind and what will stay at the end is us and God.
What is the point to worry about people's opinion if our life is not in their hands but in the hand of God?
After becoming people of God, He fills us with such a supernatural love that instead of worrying with what others think, we see them with eyes of love, the same way God sees them.
So as your sister and friend in Christ, I want to encourage you...
Don't be afraid to take a step towards evangelicals. Of going to Church to meet us (and to meet our God who is there), or of buying a Bible. (Here is a link for you to do that -> Bible)
But whatever it is the step you wanna take first, do it relaxed, knowing that God is ready to hug you and receive you with a lot of love and caress.
He waits for you anxiously.
And we, His people, love you a lot and also want to hug you.
"Fear not, for I am with you;
Be not dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you,
Yes, I will help you,
I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.’"
Isaiah 41: 10
God wants to make an everlasting covenant with you, that He will not turn away from doing good to you, but He will put His fear in your heart, that you will not depart from Him.
(Jeremiah 32: 40)
Accept this calling from God. He is only calling you closer because He loves you too much.
