How I hear God

I decided to write this post because too many Americans sell books, studies, videos about how to hear God.

But I will tell you here how I hear God.

Revelation 19: 11-13
"Now I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse. And He who sat on him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He judges and makes war.

His eyes were like a flame of fire, and on His head were many crowns.
He had a name written that no one knew except Himself.

He was clothed with a robe dipped in blood, and His name is called the Word of God."

Jesus is the Word of God right? And Jesus is God. So where can we find His Voice? Where can we find Jesus? In the Bible!!! In the Word!!!

It is actually so simple that many people think it's complicated and they give up. Or they thought they were going crazy when that happened to them.

"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God."
John 1: 1

Have you ever had a moment that you opened the Bible and God spoke to you? Or moments where you tried opening the Bible anywhere just to see if God would talk to you, but then someone told you to not do that cause you have to understand the context? Or maybe you just thought you were crazy?

You were not!!! God is willing to talk to us anytime we need to hear from Him. Giving advice, His opinion, what to do, anything.

Of course, God can talk to us in any way, anytime and anywhere, but what to do when WE need Him to speak? Go to the Bible.

I open the Bible anywhere, anytime, to hear God.

I often mark with a yellow pen the verse that He spoke because later He may want to talk to me there again.

To do this all you need is faith. You must believe that He is really talking to you because He is.

His Word is Alive, It's Jesus remember?

Some people say that you have to read the context. They say that because they see the Bible as a book. But the truth is that His Voice may show up even in only two words in one single verse!

So when you feel like you need to hear Him, just open your Bible and keep turning the pages until you see His Voice showing up and talking to you.

That's what I do. And if for some reason I cannot find His Voice or I cannot believe, I go on my knees and pray, I try to empty my heart from unbelief and worries and connect with Him. Then, I hear Him in the Bible again after that.

Jeremiah 29: 13
"And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart."

That is a Promise of God. So when you hear someone saying that they spent days without hearing God, or that God "has been silent", it's just that they spent those days without seeking Him with all their hearts.
They have been having their hearts filled with other things and not giving room to God.
It can be that unbelief occupied their hearts.

Also, what happens sometimes is that God gives us an orientation for some days and we insist in wanting a new one, and we don't receive a new one because He wants us to continue obeying what He told us to do and valuing what He said. (Sometimes, when this happens to me, I insist on knowing if something changed or if I should just continue obeying what He said, and then He repeats what He said again.)
I love Him so much!!!

God speaks to us anytime we need, giving orientations on what to do and how to do it. He encourages, comforts us, He talks about anything we need, we just have to have a question or a need in our mind and the expectation to hear Him when we open the Bible.

It doesn't happen overnight though. You have to keep practicing it until your faith is trained to hear His voice and believe, until you start believing. Until you have your ears trained. After some time, you will hear His voice anytime you need.
This is something you have to get used to because His voice does not show up in the oldness of the letter. Like Apostle Sergio Lopes says: "We have to believe in the Spirit of the Word."

Mark with a pen when He speaks something very important. Because He likes using that same Word many times for different things and different moments and we start having a strong heart to heart connection with Him.

The Holy Spirit speaks through nature too. With me, He uses birds, butterflies, and thunders. You can read more HERE. All I did was to ask Him to show me signs and use the animals. And He did.

So don't forget that when we BELIEVE, His voice stands out for us in the Bible. Anywhere in the Bible.

Here is something Apostle Sergio Lopes said that I liked a lot:

"Even the Centurion of Capernaum had never heard a preaching and he didn't have a Bible but he said: "Only a word from You is enough!" (Luke 7: 6-8)
Faith that believes in the Word of the Lord Jesus Christ!"

He speaks in a wise way, not literally. We must understand the revelation of His voice in a verse for us in the moment. Understand what He is saying to you.

Do you know what I do as well?

I'm going to share here a very intimate little secret of mine.

I go outside with the Bible and let the wind turn the pages for me. God always uses the wind to turn the pages where He wants to talk to me.
