Are you guided by your heart or by God's counsel?
Sometimes we insist on being led by our heart instead of asking and following God's instructions.
Following His instructions spare us time. And instead of taking years to reach our Promise, we reach it faster. (Psalm 107: 4-7)
But if we often insist on doing things our way, without seeking His counsel but following our hearts, we take a long time insisting on a path of disappointment, boredom, and sadness.
Psalm 73: 24
"You will guide me with Your counsel,
And afterward receive me to glory."
That last part "afterward receive me to glory" means that after we obey His instructions, following His counsel, we will enter into a "glory situation".
So we shouldn't waste our time NOT doing that.
Following His counsel does not mean to do what seems the best thing to do. Nor to do what others counsel you. It means to follow God's voice. His voice comes from Him, not from your heart, or your feeling. We cannot guess what His voice is saying either. The only way is to seek Him and hear Him through His Word.
God's counsel is sometimes, different from everything we thought we should do, or different from what we want to do. It's even crazy sometimes.
For us to know what that counsel is, we need to SEEK Him.
Some people say that because they have the Holy Spirit, what they feel like doing is what God is telling them to do. That is not true!!!
Proverbs 28: 26
"He who trusts in his own heart is a fool,
But whoever walks wisely will be delivered."
Walking wisely in this verse does not mean walking using your personal wisdom. It means walking listening and following what God is telling you to do. (That's what wise people are in the Bible)
So even if you are very wise and you have great knowledge about the situation you are facing, even if you are surrounded by wise friends and counselors, no one knows better what should be done than God.
If you ask His counsel and follow it, you will spare yourself great stress and disappointment, besides reaching your desires faster.
Even if you feel lost, without having a clue about how you are going to resolve a situation, God will give you at least the next step or how you should position yourself for success.
I will write that verse again because it's wonderful:
Psalm 73: 24
" You will guide me with Your counsel,
And afterward receive me to glory."
That verse is not saying that after following His counsel you will die and go to heaven! Haha!
It is saying that if you seek His counsel and then obey it, God will receive you on the other side of your victory! You will find His glory in your life! You will encounter your victory!
So stop everything you are doing and seek God!!!
Proverbs 8: 10
"Receive my instruction, and not silver,
And knowledge rather than choice gold."
Following His instructions spare us time. And instead of taking years to reach our Promise, we reach it faster. (Psalm 107: 4-7)
