Son, a condition. Servant, a calling.
I have had some believers and even American pastors telling me that we are not servants but children or friends, I have also heard that servant is a level before becoming a friend of God.
But what they believe and teach is a knowledge of someone who has never been a servant. Of someone who did not enter the calling of serving God.
To serve God is a calling.
To become able of being a channel of God we must have completely died. We become a vessel.
A vessel is useless unless it carries something useful and carries this something from one place to another. But if the vessel keeps aguing and do not want to carry anything, it's because it is not a vessel yet, but clay. A vessel has been sanctified.
A servant is a vessel. He died to himself and now lives only for God. He lives to serve God.
Of course that servants are children of God. Children of God is a condition. It is the condition which everyone who believes in God enters.
Now, to be a servant, the person will have to go through a painful process of ego-destruction.
I read in a book of an American Apostle, Ché Ahn, "God wants to bless you." that we have 5 phases of identity. First laves of sin, second, slaves of righteousness, third friends of God, then children of God, then, Bride of Christ. He doesn't talk in lots of details each one of these phases in his book, but we can see that he also does not see being a servant as a calling.
That's why I'm writing this message.
The other day I also had a brother confronting me that I'm a daughter and not a servant.
So this message goes to all who think we are not servants of God but children, or friends, or it was a phase etc.
To accept this calling is necessary to first stop being scared by it and understand the honor of being a servant.
Those who told me that we are not servants at all seemed to see that position as something dishonorable, humiliating.
But it is not. On the contrary. Being a servant of God is extremely honorable. But it's only honorable to those who have their minds connected to heaven, not to earth.
Being a servant of God is a postition of gold. It's the position of the angels and archangels. It's the position of soldiers of God.
A soldier has to have left his own life to serve the army. He needs to see the purpose for which he is serving.
Serving God is extremely honorable. Because is only qualified to that position those who have won a medal.
This medal is received after the decision of loving God above absolutely everything.
Only after that surrender and the perseverance on that total surrender, this person receives the medal of a servant.
A servant is a friend of God, a son of God, a bride of Christ and everything else. But not every son of God is a servant of God.
"Surely the Lord God does nothing,
Unless He reveals His secret to His servants the prophets."
Amos 3: 7
Servants are friends of God. Would you reveal your secret to someone who is not your friend? To your employer? No. So servants of God are friends of God.
Servants know the secrets of God.
"You are My friends if you do whatever I command you. No longer do I call you servants, for a servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all things that I heard from My Father I have made known to you."
John 15: 14-15
This is the most used Word by the people who say we are not servants of God.
But we can read the first phrase like this: " You are my friends if you serve me."
It's the same thing. To do whatever someone commands is to serve that person.
Now, in the second part, He is simply saying that the disciples are now on the same level as He is.
So why now not called servants but friends?
Because from now on they would know what to do by themselves without someone needing to tell them.
They are friends because they have learned the will of God. They have known the heart of God.
“But what do you think? A man had two sons, and he came to the first and said, ‘Son, go, work today in my vineyard.’
He answered and said, ‘I will not,’ but afterward he regretted it and went.
Then he came to the second and said likewise. And he answered and said, ‘I go, sir,’ but he did not go. Which of the two did the will of his father?”
They said to Him, “The first.”
Jesus said to them, “Assuredly, I say to you that tax collectors and harlots enter the kingdom of God before you."
They said to Him, “The first.”
Jesus said to them, “Assuredly, I say to you that tax collectors and harlots enter the kingdom of God before you."
John 21: 28-31
In this parable both are sons. One became a servant and the other didn't.
He became a servant because he obeyed the call. But the other one who disobeyed, did not stop being a son, he just didn't want to be a servant.
Being a servant is a spiritual calling, not of works. Works are part of it. But there are many sons full of works who are not servants.
A vessel doesn't go out doing things on its own. He stands still, available, and let God grab him and use him.
So I wanted to call your attention to something:
There is a calling, and it might be that you, even being a son, has ignored it or is ignoring it.
It might be that you are faithful, work in the Kingdom, but don't serve God yet.
Even if you do everything for Him.
That's not serving God. To serve God is to obey His living voice inside a revealed purpose.
But to see and accept this purpose is necessary to accept the invitation of forgetting all your plans and live the plan of God.
Maybe you still haven't opened the eyes to what God really wants. Maybe you are turning here and there doing works, but you don't serve the purpose of God for your life.
When you find out what it is, accept it, believe it, and decide to give yourself to that, you will start hearing the living voice of God guiding you constantly.
You will become a servant.
So, if you want that, repeat these words out loud:
Father, reveal to me everything that is hidden. Everything I need to know about Your Purposes for my life. Reveal to me all the plan, all of Your will. Show me what You want.
Give me the humility to recognize that even coming this far, even knowing all I know, there are still things I don't know. Things that You want to show me.
Help me to have the courage to accept this calling of a servant. Give me the courage to understand this better.
In Jesus Name, Amen.
