Let God circumcise your heart

Everybody knows what circumcision is. But there is a circumcision mentioned in the New Testament that few know. It is the circumcision of the heart.

That circumcision is done by God.

The Word of God is a sword that penetrates into our hearts and many times it hurts and bothers.

"For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart."
Hebrews 4:12

When we read something that bothers us in the Word, something that looks like God is criticizing us, it's necessary to agree with God.
Because God is showing us something that we need to see and admit, so that He may make a change.

And when He shows that, it bothers. It is the sword penetrating our heart and willing to circumcise it.

A circumcised heart it's a heart free from impurities, malice, darkness, and sin.
Only he who allows God to circumcise the heart is transformed.

Often times when we read something that bothers us we may react, not wanting to read the Bible anymore, or a certain book of the Bible, because we disagree with what we read.

It's necessary to allow God to circumcise our heart.

"For he is not a Jew who is one outwardly, nor is circumcision that which is outward in the flesh; but he is a Jew who is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the Spirit, not in the letter; whose praise is not from men but from God."
Romanos 2: 28-29

Our first reaction to pain and uncomfortable feelings is to run. But in this case, the pain and uncomfortable feeling produced by the Word are good because they produce a circumcision.

Something important to mention in this message is that not everything that is written, is the voice of God for us at the moment we are reading it.

It's necessary to listen to the Holy Spirit as well with the Word that God is giving us. So that we don't fall into the trap of the letter.

I say that because I, have fallen in this trap and I even cried of sadness because of "the word God was giving me". But it was not the voice of God.

It's necessary that we remember the things that He has already said and revealed, it's necessary to absorb only the voice that comes from the Glory.

Of course that many times we are tired and that is not possible. And of course, God rebukes us sometimes.

And it is that rebuking that we need to accept.

Proverbs says that only the wise accept and love to be rebuked. ( I am not mentioning the verse because there are many verses that talk about that).

It's necessary to be humble to accept a rebuke from God.

Humility is totally connected to Wisdom, while pride is connected to foolishness.

When we accept and agree with God, He circumcises our heart.

The circumcision of the heart is nothing more, to my view than the removal of the skin called ego.

A heart free from its own ego is a heart full of freedom.

God wants to give you that freedom. He wants His love to flow in your heart, He wants the fruits of the Holy Spirit to be abundant in your heart.

If you are needing that you must be thinking that you don't need it because you think you already are like that.

And if you are already letting this happen you must be thinking that you desire all that because you know you are needing it.

Either way, all of us need correction once in a while.

So from now on, let God give you those words that you don't like it so much and have another kind of reaction.

Allow yourself to agree and reflect on God's vision.

Know that it is God who is going to make the change, He only needs you to agree with Him.

Know that while I write this I also remember some things in my own life. Things that I need to accept more, or think that God is right.

May we accept the things that must be changed in us, opening ourselves to the working of the Lord!
